Their parent company, CBC, is the largest provider of military ammunition in Latin America. They also own the popular European ammo company S&B. Magtech is not quite as popular here in the US, but in other parts of the world they have a strong reputation for making quality reliable ammo for a number of different shooting applications. The Magtech we tested for this video is their 180 grain 40 Smith & Wesson load. It features a reloadable brass case with a noncorrosive primer. The bullet is a traditional lead core, copper full metal jacket. And like most 40 Smith & Wesson bullets, it has a flat tip. We ran a couple of boxes of this ammo through six different pistols to see how it would perform. Reliability was no problem at all. We didn't experience any feeding malfunctions or ignition failures. Recoil was just slightly softer than some of the other 40 caliber target loads that we've tried. If you're shooting a compact handgun or otherwise have any issues with being recoil shy, you might want to try this load to see if it helps. We used a Beretta 96 to test accuracy from a benchrest at about 15 yards. Our 10-shot group demonstrated excellent consistency with all the rounds impacting about an inch or two above the point of aim. It's easy to overlook Magtech with so many other more common brands out there. But in my experience, it's always been dependable ammo in any pistol caliber. I wouldn't hesitate to use this 40 caliber load for any range application.
