StrikeFire II Red Dot (SF-RG-501) & Hat

When situations demand split-second target acquisition and maximum field of view, mount up the StrikeFire II and shoot—both eyes open. Feature-rich, versatile and reliable, the StrikeFire II is a great choice for shooters who want a quality red dot sight. Features sleek rear-facing controls for power on/off and easy adjustment of ten dot intensity levels—lowest two settings are night-vision compatible. Automatically returns to the last dot intensity used when powered up. The 30mm aluminum alloy chassis provides extra-high recoil rating and is waterproof and fogproof. Strike fast!

The lower 1/3 co-witness cantilever mount model is ideal for rifle platforms, positioning the optic bore center 40 mm above the base surface.

reticle

Red/Green Dot Reticle

The 4 MOA Red/Green Dot is ideal for situations that demand split-second target acquisition. Choose among ten variable illumination settings—the lowest two settings are night-vision compatible.

The key thing to remember when shooting with the StrikeFire II red dot is to keep both your eyes open! Shooting with both eyes open allows you to take full advantage of your peripheral vision to get on target very quickly. Eye placement is not critical. As long as you can see the dot, you’ll hit your target!

Windage and Elevation Adjustments

The StrikeFire II red dot incorporates elevation and windage dials with audible clicks. Each small click will move the point-of-impact 1/2 Minute of Angle (MOA). 1/2 MOA will correspond to 1/2 inch at 100 yards, 1/4 inch at 50 yards, 1/8 inch at 25 yards, etc.

Adjust the elevation and windage settings:

1. Remove the dial covers.

2. Use the raised bar on the dial cover, a coin or screw driver to make the adjustments.

3. Turn the adjustment dial in the appropriate direction as indicated by the arrow on the dial. Move the dial in the direction you wish the bullet’s point-of-impact to change.

Mounting the StrikeFire II

To get the best results from your StrikeFire II red dot, proper mounting is essential and, although not difficult, the correct steps must be followed. Your firearm will need to be equipped with a Picatinny or Weaver style rail/base.

To attach the included cantilever ring mount:

1. Attach the lower part of the cantilever ring mount to the rail/base and make sure this is solidly seated in the base groove. To prevent recoil injury, position the ring so that you have at least four inches of eye relief.

2. Be sure the base clamp is hooked around the outside of the rail/base. Press downward and forward toward the muzzle. Then, firmly tighten the base clamp hex nut.

3. Place the StrikeFire II on the lower part of the cantilever ring mount with the adjustment control buttons facing the shooter. Tighten ring cap screws evenly until all are snug—use caution so as not to over-tighten. Once the screws are tightened, the StrikeFire II should not move on the rail/base.

Product Description

If you want a high-quality red dot sight, the StrikeFire II is a great choice. The sleek, rear-facing controls allow for easy adjustment of its ten dot intensity levels. It features a 30mm aluminum alloy chassis, extra-high recoil rating, and is waterproof and fogproof for ultimate reliability.

Fit and finish are great, instructions are clear
After reading a gazillion reviews on RDS, I purchased this "red dot" scope to go on my new Windham Weaponry SRC in 7.62x39mm. I had already purchased and installed a Magpul MBUS front and rear flip-up style sights, which matched the rifle perfectly. The addition of the Vortex StrikeFire II was simply the icing on the black rifle cake.Shipping was lightning fast, packaging was superb, and mounting the scope to the rail was as simple as tightening a screw... took me all of about ten minutes, including a couple of minutes to marvel at this scope. Fit and finish are great, instructions are clear, and I feel that I got more than my money's worth. Wait - WHAT ? ..... it also comes with a lifetime warranty ! My experience with Vortex customer service in times past has been excellent.I'm no expert, but I've fiddled around with firearms for decades... mostly rescuing and refinishing antique rifles in need of TLC. I know a bit about guns. Prior to sighting in at the range, I picked up the rifle to look through the glass - my old eyes perceived a near-perfect "co-witness" with the front sight - the blade of the front sight was clearly visible just below the red dot, even with my aging eyes. I played around with intensity settings, changed dot color from red to green, and tested the tightness of the flip-up covers. No issues found. I left it in red dot mode, as the green seemed a bit much for my tastes, personally. Your mileage may vary.So what if it uses a strange sized battery ? Just buy a couple of spares to throw in your range bag or rifle case and be done with it. With the money you'll save over the Big Name brands, treat yourself to another case of ammo. Yes, I said it - a CASE of ammo. I'm not hunting zombies or hogs, but I could if I wanted to with this set-up. I can hardly wait to get her to the range. I can say with some confidence this scope will exceed my expectations for years to come.Price + Quality + Customer Service = One Very Satisfied Customer. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great and Affordable Optic!
Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2015
I purchased this optic for my M&P 15 ORC after deciding I didn't want to spend a car payment on an optic, but honestly, I can hardly tell the difference. The fit and finish on this optic is superb, it doesn't look or feel cheap, and you can tell once it's mounted that it's not going anywhere.

The optic came in a box with all the necessary hardware for mounting (it came with a cantilever mount for lower 1/3 co-witness), a torx key for the mount screws, obligatory paperwork, an off-brand battery, and the hat.

After mounting it to my rifle, I headed to the range for zero. I previously boresighted it manually in my backyard by removing the bcg and looking through the barrel at a target and roughly adjusting the optic to get it on paper. At the range, it took approximately 20 minutes total to have it set for a 50/200 zero, firing ~3/4" groups at 50 yards. MANY MANY rounds later, the zero has not shifted, and I haven't removed the turret caps since that first day.

One of my favorite things about this optic is that it comes ready to rock right out of the box. The optic has everything you need to stick it to your blaster, the brightness settings range from "NVG dim" to "desert-at-midday bright", and the reticle switches between green and red, which is a nice touch. The flip caps are easy to open, and close with one finger. Every screw cap (battery compartment, windage/elevation knobs) has a rubber gasket to keep it waterproof and it is nitrogen purged to keep it fog proof. I have used and abused the optic and it has withstood everything from snow/rain to heat/humidity and drops that would make you cringe.

The logos are either laser-etched or engraved onto the optic, either way, they are bright silver. The logos on the mounts seem to have been grayed over, but a black marker to the white logos on the front and sides of the optic took care of that.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this optic for those who are building their rifles around the 0-200 range application. I have used it for farther distances, but I feel as though red dots really shine inside 300.

PROS:
-VERY solid once mounted
-Holds zero well
-Flip caps are easier to operate than the original Strikefire
-Cantilever mount makes use of a magnifier possible
-Water/fog proof
-Red/green dots with many brightness settings

CONS:
-Low-ish battery life
-4 MOA dot is a bit large for distance shots
