The starting point is Kimber's 1911 DS Warrior in 9mm, which pairs the classic 1911 layout with a double-stack magazine. The base gun uses an aluminum subframe with a carbon fiber-infused grip module, a 5-inch barrel, an optics-ready slide, ambi thumb safety and accessory rail, and Athlon Outdoors notes it has been a popular and successful model for Kimber.

The Custom and Collectable upgrades include matte black controls, carbon fiber Cerakote grips and a GT Performance trigger rated at 4 to 5 pounds. The slide gets an optic plate and port cuts, and the pistol is finished in a gray Cerakote with a deliberately battle-worn look. Athlon Outdoors describes the result as distinctive while staying understated and practical, a pistol meant to perform at the range as well as hold its collector appeal.

Only 100 will be built. Each one ships with a challenge coin, plus an authenticity certificate carrying the signature of the owner of Custom and Collectable Firearms. It is aimed at buyers who want a duty-capable double-stack 1911 that is also a numbered limited edition, and the article suggests that anyone who is serious about unusual pistols should put it on their list.
