Their parent company, CBC, is the largest provider of military ammunition in Latin America. They also own the popular European ammo company S&B. Magtech is known around the world for making high quality, reliable ammo for a number of different shooting applications. The round we're looking at today is one of several of Magtech's 38 Special loads. This one features a reloadable brass case with a non-corrosive primer and a 158 grain unjacketed Lead Round Nose bullet. This is one of the oldest bullet types around, and it's still popular for use in revolvers because of the low manufacturing costs. Most Lead Round Nose bullets have soft recoil because the lower velocities keeps the lead from fouling the barrel. And this load from Magtech is no exception. We tried the ammo in six different guns and recoil was very tame in all of them. Other than being a little smoky, it makes a good practice load, especially for small revolvers like this Ruger LCR. We didn't have any problems with ignition or extraction in our test guns, including the Marlin lever action carbine. We took the rifle back to 25 yards to test accuracy from a benchrest. The 10-shot group we pulled off was pretty impressive, especially when compared to a lot of the other Lead Round Nose loads that we've tried. Magtech might not be a household name like some of the other domestic brands that you're used to, but for me it's proven to be high quality, reliable ammo. If you need a light recoiling round for practice on the range, this load from Magtech should be on your list.
