The BMR is a lightweight bolt-action rimfire that ships with features buyers usually add later: a trigger patterned on the Remington 700, a threaded 1/2-28 muzzle, a 30 MOA scope base, and both 5- and 10-round detachable magazines in the box. That means less spent on extras before the first range trip.
In the reviewer's testing, the rifle ran bulk Federal, Winchester and CCI loads with no malfunctions other than user-caused ones. At 50 yards the reviewer estimated five-shot groups at under half an inch, with Winchester 333 bulk ammo producing the best results. The rifle was also stretched past 200 yards with better results than the reviewer expected.
Shoppers comparing models should know Bergara also sells the BMR-X, which adds a more adjustable, precision-focused stock. The reviewer's report card for the standard BMR: Shootability, Reliability, Accuracy and Value all scored an A, with Ergonomics at B+.
