Every 2-3/4” shell in the box is loaded with 9 pellets of 00 buckshot. 00 buck (also referred to as double-aught buck) can reliably take down a deer at 50 yards (or more, with experience and a good weapon). The same traits that make it a popular hunting round are also helpful in home defense; more than a few homeowners keep a 12 gauge loaded with 00 buck by the bed. Federal’s Vital-Shok shells use copper-plated pellets with buffering to reduce pellet damage and increase pattern uniformity. The pellets are contained in a FLITECONTROL wad that also helps with pattern consistency.
