Winchester® Model 70 Super Grade Centerfire Rifles Pre-'64-style controlled bolt design Grade IV/V walnut stock M.O.A. Trigger System keeps trigger in constant contact with actuator Free-floating forged-steel barrels Three-position safety selector Pachmayr Decelerators recoil pad Since its introduction in 1936, no other bolt-action rifle has inspired the same level of passion among dedicated marksmen as the Winchester Model 70. The Super Grade version of the legendary rifle adds details like a grade IV/V walnut stock for beauty to match the time-tested performance. If there were a single feature responsible for the Model 70's popularity, it would be the classic pre-'64-style controlled round-feed and claw-extractor bolt design. The massive claw extractor secures the cartridge's base, exerting full control until it's fully ejected. This time-proven design allows an unfired cartridge to be extracted even if it is not yet fully chambered. The M.O.A. Trigger System uses a spring to eliminate takeup by keeping the trigger piece in constant contact with the actuator. The 2:1 mechanical advantage created by the M.O.A. trigger's unique design geometry all but eliminates trigger creep. It's set at the factory to have no perceptible trigger overtravel. When the sear drops, the trigger stops. Where you aim is where you shoot. The sear and actuator are Slick Shot® electroless nickel Teflon® coated for corrosion resistance and smoother operation. The solid-steel integral recoil lug is forged and machined as part of the receiver. This allows the barrel to be trued in perfect alignment to the front ring of the receiver for greater accuracy. You can expect 1-MOA accuracy for three-shot groups using high-quality ammo and optics under suitable weather and range conditions. Free-floating barrels are cold-hammer-forged from a solid billet of steel, then stress-relieved to ensure top accuracy, even during the heat of long strings of fire. When the three-position safety selector is in the middle position, the action can still be operated, allowing unfired cartridges to be cycled with the safety on. A blade-type ejector gives you full control when ejecting a fired case. The hinged magazine floorplate speeds unloading of the cartridges. Shadowline cheekpiece places your eye in perfect alignment with the scope. Pachmayr® Decelerators® recoil pad adds optimal protection against felt recoil. Use the inletted sling-swivel studs to attach your favorite sling.
