Wilson Combat's Drop-In Remington 700 Barrels: No Gunsmithing Needed
The short version: Wilson Combat now sells drop-in, match-grade replacement barrels for the Remington 700, giving owners of one of America's most popular bolt actions a straightforward path to tighter groups without a full custom build.

The Remington 700 has been a safe staple and a working rifle for more than six decades, so there's no shortage of aftermarket support. Wilson Combat is adding to it with button-rifled 416R stainless barrels that are stress-relieved twice, once at the mill and again after rifling, the same process the company uses on its own precision rifles. The idea is simple: let existing 700 owners swap in a known-good barrel instead of chasing accuracy fixes elsewhere.
The fit is what makes this launch notable for budget-minded shooters. The barrels follow the factory Remington 700 contour from the shank forward, so they should drop into factory stocks, synthetic replacement stocks or walnut blanks without inletting work. That saves a trip to the gunsmith on top of the barrel price. Each barrel comes threaded 5/8x24 for a brake, flash hider or suppressor, with a recessed crown and a choice of satin or Armor-Tuff finish.
The lineup covers .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor today, with 25 Creedmoor and 22 Creedmoor planned, worth watching if you have a build coming up.
